We’re a company founded by pet owners who have wide experience being pet owners and breeders. We were inspired by the lack of quality, unbiased pet gear reviews, as well as quality nutritional information for pets. Our goal is to provide you with high quality products that won’t break your budget, while also providing you with educated articles from our team of experts on topics such as nutrition and training. We are passionate about animals and want to expand their lives beyond the limitations they face in today’s world- we believe that animal welfare is everyone’s responsibility!
How Ourpetshq.com came to be:
Three friends in the same professional field of pet care got tired of the current state of resources for pet owners. We felt that a company that provides a centralized location where people can find accurate, real information about pets and their care will be incredibly beneficial to both humans and animals alike. Our goal is to help improve animal welfare all over the world by alleviating some of the financial stress that caring for animals can cause.
During COVID lockdown in 2021, we decided to merged our individual sites and create one larger site – ourpetshq.com. We both ran smaller sites and from mid-February, we initiated the process to merge our sites and build a bigger resource.
We have made good progress so far merging the sites together to work under one domain. We kept our main site’s theme pretty similar to what it was before- with a slight reduction in the featured content.
On Feb 16th, 2022, we launched Our Pets HQ – fully featuring an improved blog/resource center and also launching other categories such for puppies, pet collars, pet toys, and pet grooming. We maintained our earlier pet food categories for cats and dogs and have introduced a category named ‘Other guides’ covering other animal guides.
Our Pets HQ is a company that provides transparent reviews on different pet care products, while also providing articles written by experts in their fields to educate people about what they need to know when caring for their pets. Our team has extensive experience in order to provide you with accurate information so that you can make informed decisions about the products you purchase for your pet.

The history of pets domestication inspired us to continue
We are inspired by a long-standing tradition of dogs and cats as companions, working partners, and friends. As humans domesticated other animals, dogs became our constant companions 10 000 years ago.
The first known cat lived during ancient Egypt’s upper period between 1 500 BC to 1 200 BC where they were considered divine creatures and were afforded special protection. Later on, around 400 AD the great plague hit and killed a lot of cats and people thought this was because they were very popular among humans. The Pope at the time declared cats were impure, dirty creatures and ordered them to be destroyed.
Wildcats are believed to have domesticated themselves by following human trash piles in search for food where they would get their first taste of an easy meal. The cat population flourished and quickly became a pest in homes all around the world. In order to prevent further damage, people began taking cats into their homes, feeding them scraps from their food and even establishing a symbiotic relationship with humans.
Around 1 500 years ago, during another plague in Europe, this time by black rats, bringing in cats again proved very useful. Later, the population grew again and kept growing to this day.

Our Review and Evaluation Process
To arrive at the best pet food reviews while providing the most objective analysis of several brands, we have borrowed a lot of resources from the Association of American Feed Control Officials(AAFCO) and Pet Nutrition Alliance. We have also followed the FDA guidelines on pet nutrition and maintain a database of important pet food updates such as recalls. The AAFCO is a voluntary membership association of local, state, and federal agencies charged by law to regulate the sale and distribution of animal feeds and animal drug remedies.
